With a degree in Print Design and 27 years as a carpet designer, Hannah Rogers founded tessere (Italian for weave) in 2018 with the vision of combining freelance carpet designing with product sourcing.
Over the years Hannah has worked for large woven carpet manufacturers and has designed custom Axminster for hotels and resorts all over the world. Her career started in the London office of CP Carpets, a small manufacturer with it's factory and HQ in Kidderminster. Initially she had to re-train to become a carpet designer, and this involved learning the traditional skills of re-drafting, point paper conversions and the parameters surrounding machine made woven carpet.
Sustainability
She is passionate about sourcing locally to reduce the carbon footprint of her clients projects, and naturally this means supporting UK manufacturing, but depending on her clients needs, also works with manufacturers in Europe and beyond. She is also passionate about sustainable products and sources product from companies who manufacturer carpets and rugs made from upcycled fibres such as P.E.T and Econyl.
Hannah's first love will always be designing carpets and rugs, but she is also an agent for Sileather, a sustainable and eco friendly faux leather made from silicone.
